Dr. Tom Tarpy is the President of SDL and has been with the firm since 1974. He provides strategic guidance and design oversight, remaining actively involved in projects ranging from multi-story office and residential towers to sports facilities and military installations. Tom holds a B.S. and M.S. from Tennessee Technological University and a Ph.D. from Vanderbilt University. His honors include the NDEA Title IV Fellowship and memberships in Chi Epsilon, Sigma Xi, and the Order of the Engineer. Dr. Tarpy is a member of numerous professional organizations including ACI, AISC, and ASCE. He has also served as an Assistant and Research Associate Professor at Vanderbilt University for over 20 years, authoring numerous papers and speaking internationally on structural design innovations.
