FIRM OVERVIEW        

Stanley D. Lindsey and Associates, Ltd. (SDL) is a full-service consulting structural engineering firm with offices in Atlanta, Georgia, and Brentwood, Tennessee, and service offices in Louisville, Kentucky and Tampa and Orlando, Florida. The combined offices have a staff of 33 employees. Founded in 1966, the firm has provided the structural design and contract documents for projects located throughout the United States.

FIRM EXPERIENCE     

SDL has extensive experience in virtually every type of structure including commercial, healthcare, governmental, education, sports and recreation, residential, resort, parking, industrial, and specialty structures. The firm has over 43 years of experience in the design, evaluation and retrofit of structures. Our engineers are registered in 44 states (plus the District of Columbia, Puerto Rico and the US Virgin Islands) and consult with architectural firms and design-build contractors throughout the United States and overseas.

SDL believes in being responsive to the needs of the client and the owner.  During the design phase, the project engineers work closely with the architect to produce construction documents that are adequately detailed and on schedule.  SDL strives to be a reliable, trusted partner to the design team, providing complete and coordinated drawings to the owner.

SDL provides the security of a 43 year old firm which, rather than resting solely on our longevity, keeps up with the newest technology and advances in our industry.

STAFF EXPERIENCE  

Our staff has technical experience to provide structural engineering design for a variety of project types. The firm employs 22 structural engineers.  Design engineers have a minimum of a Master’s degree in Structural Engineering; Doctoral degrees are held by 4 of our engineers.  Possessing knowledge is a fundamental requirement, but it is the unique skill of putting the scientific knowledge to practical use that has made SDL a leader in creative structural designs since its inception in 1966.  Our engineers have the ability to handle complex projects with technical competence.

Our engineers are responsive to team deadlines; inventive and adaptable to project intricacies. Principals of the firm are production‑oriented and actively involved in innovative design, research, and analysis. Several members of the firm serve on national committees developing structural design codes and standards for the industry. The Construction Administration Department has registered Professional Engineers with a broad background in construction practices.  Our drafting department is well versed in Microstation, Revit and AutoCAD.  Our staff at SDL is committed to quality and is responsive to client needs and concerns.

  • SDL believes that our experience can serve the next generation of engineers by interacting with them in various ways. The firm participates in the following educational enrichment events:
